Miss South Africa 2015 : Info

The finale of Miss South Africa 2015 was held at the Sun City Resort on 29th March 2015 which was televised live on M-Net and Mzansi Magic. Liesl Laurie was crowned as the winner and represented South Africa at Miss World 2015 and, the first runner-up, Refilwe Fifi Mthimunye represented South Africa at the Miss Universe 2015 pageants. Ziphozakhe ZokufaMiss South Africa 2013 who took the title after her predecessor Rolene Strauss was crowned Miss World, crowned Liesl as her successor.

The pageant began with auditions across the country and twenty-four semifinalists were selected, a list which narrowed down to twelve finalists who competed for the prestigious title. The finalists came from around the country - seven from Gauteng, three from the Western Cape and one each from Kwa-Zulu Natal and Mpumalanga.

The 12 finalists who competed at the finals (in alphabetical order) were Busi Mahlangu, Chanelle Sardinha, Danelle De Wet, Gugulethu Banda, Kim Wentzel, Liesl Laurie, Nicole Lamberts, Ntsiki Mkihze, Refilwe Mthimunye, Shane Naidoo, Sihle Makhanya, and Taryn Morris.

Out of the 24 semifinalists shortlisted the following could not make to Top 12 finalists - Iman Sheik, Kirsten Hornby, Melissa May Kock, Nompumelelo Maduna, Rachelle Gietzen, Roxanne Zeller, Safiyah Vally, Tara-Leigh Coetzee, Tarryn Kim Cornelius, Tegan Goldman, Thenjiwe Masondo, and Tsakana Mangwane.

12 former Miss South Africa title holders will be mentoring this year’s finalists who will be vying for the Miss South Africa 2015 crown at Sun City Resort on March 29. The former Miss South Africa winners who will offer advice and share their experiences are - Wilma Van Der Bijl (1987), Bernelee Daniell (1995), Peggy-Sue Khumalo (1996), Sonia Raciti (1998), Jo-Ann Strauss (2000), Vanessa Carreira (2001), Cindy Nell (2002), Joan Ramagoshi (2003), Nokuthula “Thuli” Sithole (2005), Tatum Keshwar (2008), Nicole Flint (2009) and Bokang Montjane (2010).
