The Miss South Africa 2016 was held on 19th March 2016 at the Carnival City's Big Top Arena where twelve contestants from different provinces competed for the crown. The winner, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene from Mkhondo was crowned by the outgoing title holder Liesl Laurie Miss South Africa 2015. Kunene represented South Africa at Miss Universe 2016 and Miss World 2016 pageants.

Elizabeth Molapo of Free State and Tayla Skye Robinson of Gauteng were adjudged first and second princesses respectively. Top 5 also included Sarah Botes, Sharon-Rose Khumalo while Top 10 also included Luyolo Mngonyama, Reabetswe Sechoaro and Schane Venter.

Miss South Africa 1994, Basetsana Kumalo, Poet and writer, Kojo Baffoe, Actress and TV Host, Sophie Ndaba, Fashion designer, Casper Bosman and Magazine editor, Pnina Fenster formed the accomplished panel of jury.

The 12 finalists who competed (in alphabetical order) are - Elizabeth Molapo, Felicia Lwazi Muwayi, Luyolo Mngonyama, Marciel Hopkins, Mikaela Oosthuizen, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene, Reabetswe Rambi Sechoaro, Ronette Chambers, Sarah Botes, Schane Venter, Sharon Rose Lehlohonolo Khumalo and Tayla Skye Robinson.
