21 years old Ukrainian beauty Alena Belova is next in the line of favourites of Miss Earth 2016. Standing tall at an astounding height of 171cm, Alena describes herself as someone who is extremely curious and active. Talking about her environmental advocacy, Alona explains. “There is a huge problem of plastic waste in the world. There is even such a concept of the “seventh continent” - the floating island with the size of France in the Pacific Ocean, consisting entirely of garbage. To save resources given us by the Earth is very important. But very serious problem today is the recycling of our waste. Garbage completely violates the ecological environment of our planet!
There is a huge problem of garbage and household waste in my country. The amount of garbage is increasing from year to year in Ukraine because the trash is not recycled, but simply warehoused or burned. It accumulates, poisoning our water, making soil poisonous and inappropriate. Therefore, I am willing to raise awareness of this problem and teach people how to recycle on daily basis and be responsible for their actions. I believe that with the help of talented scientists and inventors we will be able to apply the latest technology for recycling on a global scale.”
