Lúcia Petterle from Brazil defeated 55 other contestants at the finale of Miss World 1971, to clinch the coveted title of Miss World 1971. The 21st edition of the Miss World pageant was held on 10 November 1971 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. Petterle was the first and only woman from Brazil to have won Miss World in 1971 to date. After her reign, she went on to finish her medical studies and became a doctor. Today she continues with her charity work helping underprivileged children in her free time by giving medical needs and care to them.
