Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir crowned Miss Iceland 2015

20 years old Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir hailing from Kopavogur was crowned as the Miss World Iceland 2015. Arna will now represent Iceland at the Miss World 2015 pageant. “After five years I see myself as a woman filled with happiness and experience. I see myself travelling the world, taking part in charity work abroad,” said Arna after her crowning in an interview.

Arna is a professional Pole Vault Athelete and is taking up a nursing course in a university. She was crowned in a gleaming coronation ceremony, by the outgoing queen Tanja Ýr Ástþórsdóttir. The finale was held at Reykjavik Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center. In addition to announcing the winners, the finale also announced other winners in the categories –
Miss Iceland Top Model 2015 - Íris Rós Hauksdóttir.
Miss Talent Iceland 2015 - Malín Agla Kristjánsdóttir.
Miss Sports Iceland 2015 - Telma Fanney Magnúsdóttir.
People’s Choice Iceland 2015 - Helena Reynisdóttir.

Till the year 2009, the winner used to go to Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International pageant, but after 2009, the Organisation only sends delegates to the Miss World pageant. Iceland’s performance at the Miss World has been quite impressive, with the country winning three Miss World crowns till date. Hólmfríður Karlsdóttir was the first person from Iceland to win Miss World 1985. After 3 years in 1988, Linda Pétursdóttir brought back the crown to Iceland. In 2005, Unnur Birna Vilhjálmsdóttir won the Miss World title by defeating heavy favorites from Puerto Rico, USA & Philippines. Do you think Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir has what it takes to be the next Miss World?
