The much awaited and the much glorified pageant of Philippines, Binibining Pilipinas 2016, finally came to an end. Millions of fans across the globe, who have been waiting with bated breath to witness the crowning of the new Binibini queen, saw Maria Mika Maxine Medina get crowned as the Miss Universe Philippines 2016. As Philippines is immersed in the glory of its new queen, we thought to spice up the finals a bit and create some cherish worth post pageant moments.

Let us elucidate more on this... Like every year a beauty queen is crowned to compete at International Pageant, and every year we update you about it, and also every year we review the pageant or the contestants or EVENING GOWNS. Yes!!  Hence, this year too, we are going to review the Evening gowns of the Binibinis, and list out our Best and Worst gowns for the night!! So shall we..?? Let’s start with the Best ones first.

Starting with Binibini 7 Angelique Celine De Leon’s gown, the beauty queen spelled magic with her gown. Angelique wore a golden and silver coloured gown with deep sweetheart neckline. Her gown had nothing unique or there was nothing different or new for that matter. But, the gown did an excellent job in bringing out her hourglass figure, that too in a mouth watering way. The shimmer embellishment that created a drop effect on her gown surely was a pick up to her overall appearance.

Next in the podium of best gowns is Binibini 12 Edjelyn Joy Cay Gamboa. My my!! Edjelyn in the Maroon gown was a pure eye pleasing sight to look at. And trust us you can just stare at her for an hour straight, or even more. Clad in a satin gown, with fish cut silhouette, and vertical studded lines over the gown added the much needed oomph to her personality.

Moving on to the next Best gown, we have Binibini 27 Dindi Joy Pajares. Now this is something experimental, and that too in an exceptionally awe-inspiring way. The gown is simple white, with beaded intricate details. But what will catch your interest is the way the evening gown has been designed o make you fall in love. It’s a one shoulder georgette gown, with a net piece clubbed delicately over the gown, starting from the bust, to give it an elegant and graceful look.

If fairies were to choose a colour and were to name it their own, it should be blue and it should be the blue which Kylie wore. The dreamy blue coloured gown that Kylie Verzosa wore was bliss, pure bliss!! The way she adorned the gown, it felt that she owned not just the gown, but the stage, and the finale of course. Extremely feminine, exceptionally elegant, and gracefully beautiful are the terms that best described Kylie Verzosa during the finale.

Shifting our focus to the next Binibini, and probably with the most stunning evening gown, we have Binibini 14, Paula Rich Bartolome. OMG if we could just start with the pros and cons for this gown, it won’t be difficult to ramble on for pages on the pros, but yea cons would be hard, or rather impossible to list. It is amazing how a gown as simple as this one can make a head-turning statement without much of an effort. Paula donned a simple off white satin gown, but what was the highlight of the evening dress was the golden embroidery on the neck that demands instant attention. It is not too loud, it is not too subtle; it is just how it should have been – A symphony of effortless elegance.

After the Best, it will be unfair not to highlight the worst. As talking about the worst will make more sense about the best gowns, and well of course, showing the worst is the best part!!! So let’s being with exploring the worst gowns for the night...

Let’s first take a look at the overly weighed down gown of Binibini 6 Candy Del Castillo. Maybe it wasn’t the gown; maybe it was the girl who wore it. Whatever it was, the gown didn’t flatter her body at all. If at all anything, it only made her look shorter and heavier and all credits to the awfully overall embellishment that she adorned.

Next in row is Binibini 5 Riana Agatha L. Pangindian, and OMG the evening gown was an eye sour!! Imagine a stylish green coloured string curtains with beautiful intricate detailing. Beautiful, isn’t it? Now imagine that on a person. Save our Souls?? Right? Yes, that pretty much describes Riana’s evening gown.

Let’s shift our focus and check out the evening gown of Binibini 32 Jennyline Carla F. Malpaya. Awww, Jennyline’s gown was designed by a 3 years old kid. No? It wasn’t? Ohh!! That’s how it looked though!! If there were a doodle the gown competition, Jennyline might have won it for this one. There is eye soaring, and then there is eye blinding visuals, well this evening gown quite neatly qualified for the category.

Well flipping through our list of worst gowns, next in line is Binibini 17 Priscilla Kimberley Dela Cruz. A space ship hit the venue of Bb Pilipinas 2016 and it decided to hibernate, and looks like the hibernated pieces were clubbed together and given the formation of a gown. We know shoulder pads are in fashion, but this is like going too overboard with the concept. In a nutshell, the gown was an amalgamation of rocks and fossils and tin foils and everything but classy.

Last but not the least (well least in the fashion diary for sure), we have Binibini 20 Geisha Naganuma. Too many cooks spoil the broth, is the most suited lines to describe Geisha’s gown. Her evening gown was a map on one side, a mirror on the other, and patch on one and blah somewhere else. It looks like the designer was confused as to what to get and what to lose, and probably he was so keen on getting everything on the gown, that he indeed end up infusing everything.
