Bb Pilipinas 2016 Maxine Medina has been in constant pressure as expectations from her are high after Pia’s glorious win at the Miss Universe pageant. But if that wasn’t enough, the forthcoming Miss Universe pageant is scheduled to be held in her homeland. The recent announcement by the Department of Tourism that the Philippines will host the prestigious international beauty contest has doubled the already high expectations for her to win.
Despite of all the pressure, Maxine is really excited about the advantages of holding the Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines. “I know everyone will be cheering for me. Everyone will be supporting me,” said Maxine during one of the press conferences. “The bashers have been reduced. More and more people will believe in what I can do and what I can show the people. I’m more excited than pressured especially now that I’m learning more how this pageant works.”
Maxine looks up to Pia as an inspiration but also shares that they both are different individuals with something different to offer. “Pia is different, Maxine is different. We have different things we can show. Hopefully, I can show many surprising sides of myself in Miss Universe,” she said.
Maxine has been training herself for the pageant and has been busy doing her own research on current issues for the critical Question and Answer round. Bb. Pilipinas-Grand International 2016 Nicole Cordoves who is also a close friend of Maxine confirmed that the beauty queen has been working really hard for the MU pageant. “She reads a lot and asks a lot of questions like when she says something, she asks if it’s politically correct,” Nicole added.
Maxine also shared that she is very excited and looking forward to touring her co-contestants around the country. “There are many beautiful places in our country and I would want to share places like Palawan, Cebu and Davao to my fellow candidates.” When asked if Maxine knows about her ‘going to be fellow contestants’, she said, “Of course, I saw them already on Instagram, I’ve been stalking [them].”
