Miss Universe Vietnam is all geared up to win the Best in National Costume award at Miss Universe 2016 pageant it seems. According to a local media of Vietnam (tuoitrenews.vn), a contest will be held to find the best national costume that the Vietnamese representative will don at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant. The contest will seek a winning design that highlights the true spirit and culture of Vietnam.

Miss Universe Vietnam to select the National Costume by Design Contest

The winning costume of the contest will be the official costume for the Miss Universe Vietnam. The design contest is organised by SG Unicorp, the media group that holds the copyright to Miss Universe Vietnam. The Organisation will select ten best designs that will enter the round two, wherein the contestants will present their ideas to the judges.

Out of the ten shortlisted designs, two costumes that best represent the culture of Vietnam will be selected for a final round before being publicized. The winning design will be awarded with a cash prize worth VND15 million (US$672). The Vietnamese representative will don the same to the Miss Universe 2016 pageant scheduled to be held in Philippines. By introducing the design contest, Vietnam has joined the league of other countries like Australia that holds a design contest to search for talented designers to create national costumes for its winners.

National Costume segment is one of the most important segments of the international pageants that help in bringing out the beauty and grace of the contestants in its true form. The National Costume also helps showcase the true spirit and culture of the country.
