As the Miss Universe 2016 pageant is getting closer to the finale, the excitement and thrill is at a constant rise and we can’t wait to see who the new queen will be. What s also exciting is to find out new interesting events for this year’s pageant as the host country for Miss Universe 2016 is the Philippines.
One of the latest information that we have fished out is that the Sinulog-Santo Niño Festival, which is an annual cultural and religious festival held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City, will see eight of the Miss Universe 2016 contestants participate at the parade. Sinulog organizers officially confirmed that eight Miss Universe candidates will join the Sinulog grand parade on Sunday, January 15.
The delegates will ride the Okada Manila parade float. Okada Manila is the resort where the 120 contestants of Miss Universe pageant will stay till the coronation night. Sinulog Foundation executive director however said that the names of the eight contestants are not yet confirmed and totally depends on the sponsors.
“This is very good for Cebu, so we hope that everything will be (okay including) … peace and order and all these things,” said chief tourism operations officer of the Department of Tourism Region 7 Office, Judy Gabato. Gabato further added, “We have handled a lot of foreign delegates but this is different.”
Talking about the security of the contestants, according to Central Visayas Chief Superintendent Noli Taliño, around 5000 police officers will be on duty. Talking about the float, it is being prepared less than two weeks before the parade. The float will also feature flora and fauna unique to Cebu, along with “tambuleros” or percussionists.

The gala coronation of Miss Universe 2016 is slated to be held on 30th January 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
