As the time is passing by, the excitement for the last international pageant of the year – the Miss Universe – is increasing. The finale of Miss Universe 2016 is slated to be held on 30th January 2017 in Philippines, and at the conclusion of the pageant Pia Wurtzbach will pass on her crown to her successor. The 2015 Miss Universe had a controversial year with Donald Trump walking out, and of course the crowning fiasco.

This year too seem to be coming into limelight for various reasons. First was the confusion about the venue, next came the preliminary fashion show uncertainty and now the fact that El Salvador will not be a part of the pageant this year. Yes, El Salvador has decided not to send a candidate for the pageant this year. The rumoured reason behind the decision is being said to be the poor management of franchise holders of the pageant. It is also being said that issues related to corruption are also cropping in.

According to sources, El Salvador's downfall is due to lack of interest and horrible management from TCS. Last time, the country skipped participation was in the year 1981. It was in 2004 that Telecorporacion Salvadorena acquired the franchise for Miss World, and in 2006 it acquired the franchise for Miss Universe.  The pageant was later renamed Nuestra Belleza El Salvador and held two separate pageants to select contestants for the Miss Universe and Miss World pageant. In 2010, the pageant decided to select two representatives from one pageant.

Miss Universe 2016 is just a month and a half away and the thrill and excitement is already at its peak. Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach has teamed up with Omaze to bring in a contest to provide this amazing opportunity to the fans. The winner along with a friend will get to fly to the Philippines where they will get to walk the red carpet with Pia and will also get a chance to hangout backstage with Pia and the contestants. The winner of the contest will also step on stage during dress rehearsals.
