But now, the government of Philippines is taking the threats quite seriously. Initially cited as a fake threat, Philippines officials have been forced to take it more seriously. The Filipino Muslim population, in recent years, has been increasingly supporting ISIS. That is another big concern for the government.

Throwing the light on hosting Pope Francis as well as the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Summit last year, Philippines presented its bid to host the Miss Universe pageant. Last month only it was announced by the tourism department that Philippines has won the bid to host the prestigious pageant next year in 2017. The pageant would be held in the capital city of Manila, though no official confirmation has come from the Miss Universe organization.

The only official confirmation of the threats came from the office of the Superintendent of Police. Philippines’s Pia Wurtzbach won the Miss Universe last year and she has stated that it would be her honour to give up her crown in her own country. Let us see what measure the government takes to prevent the attacks.
