Iris Mittenaere Crowned Miss France 2016

It’s a back to back win for Nord Pas de Calais at Miss France! Iris Mittenaere was crowned as Miss France 2016 after defeating 30 other contestants at Zénith Arena de Lille on 19th December 2015 in the 86th edition of Miss France by the outgoing queen, Camille Cerf. Miss Martinique, Morgane Edvige was adjudged as the first runner-up, Miss Tahiti, Vaimitu Teiefitu was announced as the second runner-up, Miss Provence, Julia Courtès was declared as the third runner up and Miss Réunion, Azuima Issa was titled as the fourth runner-up.

Completing the semi finalists spot were, Laura Muller, Lena Starchuski, Léa Bizeul, Nora Bengrine and Léanna Ferrero. The pageant was hosted by the very popular television personality, Jean-Pierre Foucault along with Miss France 2002, Sylvie Tellier. Iris will represent France both at Miss World 2016 and Miss Universe 2016 and in case if she is unable to qualify for any pageant her runner-up will represent France at the respective pageant. Since 2010 the winner is selected by the votes of viewers, Iris earned people’s hearts.

22 years old beauty queen, Iris hails from the city of Lille and is a fifth year Dentistry student at University of Lille. Her both the parents are teachers and she has completed her schooling from Steenvoorde. She enjoys dancing, gymnastics, theater and riding. Miss France 2016 will now use an apartment in Paris during one year, her prizes will include 100,000 Euros in gifts and a monthly net salary of 3,000 Euros. Moreover, she will travel across the country to meet French people sharing the motto of love and peace and assisting them in need.

France was the first country to win both Miss World and Miss Universe in the same year. Miss France 2014 , Flora Coquerel ended as a Top 5 finalist at Miss Universe 2015 pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada, while her runner-up, Hinarere Taputu represented France at Miss World 2015 in Sanya, China where she was a Top 10 finalist.
