Miss Philippines Water 2016 Loren Artajos replaces Imelda Schweighart as the new Miss Philippines Earth 2016, instead of Kiara Giel Gregorio. The announcement was made by the Carousel Productions’ president Ramon Monzon at a party organised for Miss Earth 2016 winners at the Oakwood Hotel in Pasig City.
Earlier, Kiara Giel Gregorio was supposed to replace Imelda, but Gregorio was not sure if she would be able to take forward the duties of Imelda because she has a scholarship with the University of Westminster in London. Taking up the title would have been conflicting with her studies.

Hailing from the city of Laoag, Loren Artajos graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing before competing in Miss Philippines Earth. Explaining her environmental advocacy, Loren said she wants to be an advocate of the environment, spread awareness of the current climate change issue the world is facing today and implement measures to mitigate global warming.

Imelda resigned from the title amidst the controversy that started after she claimed that the yellow gown that Katherine wore during the finals of Miss Earth 2016 was for Imelda. The controversy took a muddy turn when Imelda called Katherine fake and said that she underwent plastic surgery.
