Magdalena Cohendet has been chosen as the Uruguayan representative to the Miss Universe 2016 pageant. Magdalena was crowned Miss Universe Uruguay 2016 on the eve of 6th November 2016. She succeeds Miss Universe Uruguay 2015 Bianca Sánchez Pico.

19 years old Magdalena hails from Artigas and stands tall at an astounding height of 5 feet 10 inches. She is a student of Business Administration, and on being asked about her biggest challenge for the Miss Universe pageant, she said,” the biggest challenge is to show the society that the event is something which is just beyond pretty face, and involves attitude, intelligence and culture.”
Uruguay has never won a Miss Universe crown so far, however the country has managed to bag placements. The highest and also the last placement for Uruguay was in the year 1985, when Andrea Beatríz López Silva made it to the fourth runner-up. Uruguay has managed total 6 placements at the Miss Universe pageant so far.

The Miss Universe 2016 finale is scheduled to be held on 30th January 2017 and the reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines will crown her successor at the end of the finale.
