Miss Universe Philippines 2016, Maxine Medina has some big shoes to fill. Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach was not only the third Miss Universe from Philippines but was a very popular contestant as well. From her looks to her personality, the media has been constantly comparing Maxine Medina to Pia Wurtzbach.

Philippines will host Miss Universe in January next year. Though it is an advantage for Maxine, it adds performance pressure on her too. But she isn’t letting the pressure and comparison get to her. She is focused on the goal and is leaving no stone unturned to prepare for it. In the Binibining Pilipinas finale, Maxine stammered during an answer for which she was criticized. She said she was working hard on her communication skills. She is busy throughout the day attending workshops, training sessions, working out, watching TED talks and reading as much as she can.
It will be the third time Philippines will host the international pageant. To that Maxine admitted having mixed emotions. She said that she would love to show the other contestants around the country.
Will Philippines win the title two years in a row? Will Maxine shut the mouths of all her critics? Only time will tell. For now, we can only wish her luck.
