A the conclusion of the magnificent finale of Miss Costa Rica 2016 held on August 19’ 2016 at the National Auditorium, the Children's Museum in San Jose Carolina Rodriguez was crowned as the winner. Carolina succeeds Miss Costa Rica 2015 Brenda Castro, and will now represent Costa Rica at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant.

The finale was conducted in three parts and was evaluated by the judges as well as the public through the Teletica interactive application. The first round was the Question and Answer round, followed by the Swimsuit round and finally concluding into the Evening Gown round.
After the evening gown round, it was time to announce the Top 3 finalists for the night - Elena Correa, Andrea and Carolina Rodríguez Castro. The judges unanimously chose Carolina as the Miss Costa Rica 2016. In addition to the crown, Carolina also received cash prize.
Now that Carolina has won the crown, she will now be handling the responsibilities as the reigning Miss Costa Rica. This has opened a one-year cycle in which the national beauty will have responsibilities in different areas, one of them being the ??environmental conservation area.
