Sablayan bestowed 5 Miss Earth 2016 Beauties with ‘honorary residency status’ for their contribution to the municipality during their eco-tourism tours. The ladies conferred with Sablayan residency were Miss Australia Lyndl Kean, Miss Belgium Fenne Verrecas, Miss Guam Gloria Nelson, Miss Bahamas Candisha Rolle, and Miss Bolivia Eliana Villegas.
The ladies would be able to enjoy benefits and privileges just as the residents of the Sablayan municipality, which is located in the province of Occidental Mindoro in Philippines, where the 2016 Miss Earth beauty pageant was held on the 29th of October.

Councilors Felipe B. Urieta and Walther B. Marquez authored the Sangguniang Bayan resolution, which was approved by Vice Mayor Andres D. Dangeros and the Mayor Eduardo B. Gadiano. The mayor presented the resolution to the former candidates of the beauty pageant, along with other officials, at the Siburan Hall in Sablayan.
It was mentioned in the resolution that the three day eco-tour through the municipality gave the “undiscovered places” “a chance to be known to the world”. The Councilor Walther said, “Although they didn’t bag the Miss Earth 2016 crown, our people are very grateful to them for their efforts and sacrifices in promoting the unknown municipality of Sablayan.”
Sablayan was one of the 12 destinations which the Miss Earth organisation chose for the eco-tourism pre-pageant tours in Philippines. The municipality, a “newly discovered ecotourism spot is well-protected by the local government in partnership with its people” and hence offered splendid natural beauty.

The beauties were very excited and pleased to receive such a wonderful gift from the municipality where they spent time through their pageant journey and had loved it as if they were “real residents of this beautiful place.”
