Miss Earth beauty pageant is the newest kid in the Big 4 pageant list, but has gained immense popularity in such a short span of time. The reason for popularity can be the concept and advocacy of the pageant that focuses on environmental issues and ways to prevent the nature. Also, Katherine Espin’s victory has proven to be positive for the pageant. Recently, the Miss Earth Organisation announced that Katherine Espin, with Carousel Productions EVP Lorraine Schuck, will be paying a courtesy call to Hon. Sec. Wanda Corazon Tulfo Teo of the Department of Tourism.

As per the recent updates, Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin has been appointed as the ambassador of the Philippines Department of Tourism by the Honorable Secretary of Tourism Ms. Tulfo Heart Wanda Teo. Katherine will now be responsible in promoting Eco Tourism around the country. This is the first time that the Miss Earth Organisation has appointed its queen as the Ambassador for Eco Tourism. Katherine is undoubtedly an amazing choice for the title.

Katherine took to Instagram tp share her excitement and wrote, “I'm so pleased to announce that I've been appointed by DOT Secretary, Hon.Corazon Wanda Tulfo-Teo, as "Ambassadress for the Department of Tourism of the Philippines", to promote Eco Tourism all over the nation. Since the day I won I promised to work all year long nonstop for my advocacy and I thank God for all the amazing opportunities that I have" been given to work not only for the Philippines but for the entire world! The work and sacrifice are paying off, priorities like these are more important in life! Working with a heart is priceless.”

Katherine Espin had earlier mentioned that her advocacy as the reigning Miss Earth will focus on addressing climate change, calling it as the “most important environmental issue we have right now in the planet.”
