At the conclusion of the finale of Miss Earth Mexico 2016 held on 27th August 2016 at the Querétaro Centro de Congresos y Convenciones Itzel Paola Astudillo was crowned as the winner. Itzel succeeds Miss Earth Mexico 2015 Gladys Flores Simon, and will now represent Mexico at the Miss Earth 2016 pageant.

Itzel battled out 30 other contestants to clinch the coveted title and earn the right to represent Mexico at the Miss Earth 2016 finals to be held in October. Itzel hailing from Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas is a student of is a student of Veterinary Medicine. She is an entrepreneur and professional in the networking industry and marketing.
