Alicia Aylies Miss Guyane 2016 crowned as Miss France 2017

Miss France 2017, the 87th edition of Miss France beauty pageant, was held tonight at Arena de Montpellier. The mega event concluded with the crowning of Alicia Aylies representing the province of Guyane as Miss France 2017. She was crowned by and succeeds Iris Mittenaere, Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais 2015 and Miss France 2016, and will now go on to represent France in Miss Universe 2017.

Alicia is 18 years of age and stands tall at 177cm. She is currently pursuing her graduation in law and is also passionate about singing, reading, music and modeling.

The first runner-up was Aurore Kichenin from the province of Languedoc-Roussilon. Aurore, who is 21 years of age and stands tall at 174 cm, is now expected to represent France in Miss World 2017. Vaea Ferrand (Tahiti), Morgane Thérésine (Guadeloupe) and Justine Kamara (Lorraine) were adjudged as the second, third and fourth runner-up respectively.

The gala event commenced with the introduction of the thirty beauties representing different provinces of France who then rocked the stage in traditional costumes, festival costumes and swimsuits against the backdrop of some exemplary song and dance performances.

After the preliminary parades, the Top 12 semi-finalists as selected by the jury were announced, and the finalists were Claire Godard (Miss Alsace), Axelle Bonnemaison (Miss Aquitaine), Maurane Bouazza (Miss Bretagne), Morgane Thérésine (Miss Guadeloupe), Alicia Aylies (Miss Guyane), Meggy Pyaneeandee (Miss Ile-de-France), Aurore Kichenin (Miss Languedoc-Roussilon), Justine Kamara (Miss Lorraine), Esther Houdement (Miss Normandie), Myrtille Cauchefer (Miss Picardie), Ambre N'guyen (Miss Réunion) and Vaea Ferrand (Miss Tahiti).

The Top 12 then went through the question and answer round and final swimsuit parade, after which based on votes of the public and the jury (each having 50% weightage in the selection), the five finalists were announced, and the five finalists were Morgane Thérésine (Miss Guadeloupe), Alicia Aylies (Miss Guyane), Aurore Kichenin (Miss Languedoc-Roussilon), Justine Kamara (Miss Lorraine) and Vaea Ferrand (Miss Tahiti). The final five dressed in white then went through another question and answer round, and the winners were then announced on the basis of public voting.

The final event was telecast live on TF1 channel, and was presented by Jean-Pierre Foucault, the famous television presenter and Sylvie Tellier, Miss France 2002.

The jury for Miss France 2017 was comprised of Arielle Dombasle (actress & singer), Ingrid Chauvin (actress & novelist), Amir Haddad (singer), Michèle Bernier (comedian), Christophe Barratier (director & producer), Tony Yoka (boxing gold medalist at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics), and the stunning beauty Miss France 2010 Malika Ménard.
