Miss Heritage 2016-2017 pageant is on its road to the finale and is scheduled to be held tonight, i.e. 18th February 2017 in South Africa, Johannesburg, Gauteng. The venue for the event is Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City. Contestants from different countries are vying for the coveted title.
Miss Heritage is a reality television international Beauty Pageant that promotes world tangible and intangible heritage. The pageant which has over 50 countries currently franchised to participate at its World Finals, has a strategic partner which is a Women Empowerment Organization called “We for We”, based in India.

A total of 55 contestants are competing for the title this year. Miss Heritage is the first international beauty pageant that focuses on the promotion of the diverse heritage in the world and the only internationally recognized international pageant that is hosted and is based in Africa?
The concept for Miss Heritage Pageant compliments the vision, mission and objectives of (UNESCO) United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization? Convention of 1972 and the 2003 Convention on safeguarding cultural heritage. The main objective is to use heritage as a tool for sustainable development throughout the?world, so that there is change in people’s lives being derived from the benefits of National and world heritage.
The contestants this year are being trained on various aspects, including the catwalk skills, communication skills and presentation skills. The contestants proudly represent their country and their rich cultural heritage, also sharing ways to sustain and pass on the legacy to the future generation.

According to the Miss Heritage Organisation, the fusion of heritage and beauty pageantry is a unique concept as it creates the idea of modelling for a purpose that is greater and deeper, making pageantry a tool for sustainable development.
