The magnificent finale of Miss Mundo Colombia 2016 concluded with the crowning of Shirley Atehortua Rios from Risaralda as the winner. Shirley was crowned by the outgoing Miss Mundo Colombia María Alejandra López Pérez, and will now represent Colombia at the Miss World 2016 pageant to be held in Washington DC, USA on December 20’ 2016.

23 years old Shirley is Journalism and Social Communications degree holder and also a professional hockey player. Shirley dons the face of a stunner and has everything that is required to be one of the front runners at the Miss World pageant.

At the same event, Stephanie Fernandéz Peñaranda from Bogotá was adjudged as Miss Virreina and will represent Colombia at Top Model of the World 2016, Yenny Katherine Carrillo from Cesar was titled as Miss Princesa Stephanie and will now represent Colombia at Miss Globe 2016 pageant.

Colombia is yet to win its first ever Miss World crown. The country has been titled first runner-up twice at the Miss World pageant – At Miss World 1996 under the representation of Carolina Arango Corrales, and at Miss World 2002 under the representation of Natalia Peralta Castro.
