Theresa Agonia was crowned Miss Rhode Island USA 2016 at the end of the beauty pageant held on August 30, 2015. She will represent her state at the coming edition of Miss USA 2016. Malia Cruz was crowned as Miss Rhode Island Teen USA 2016 at the same event. Agonia succeeds Anea Garcia who made the Top 5 cut at the 2015 Miss USA Pageant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Looking at the recent years, Rhode Island has produced two international winners. In 2012, Miss Rhode Island, Olivia Culpo not just became the first winner from the state but also won the title of Miss Universe. In 2015, Anea Garcia represented Dominican Republic at Miss Grand International thereby winning it! This year will expect a lot from Theresa Agonia who is anticipated to live up to her predecessors expectations.

Theresa Agonia is a Media Communication graduate of Roger Williams University. She focused on the field of public relations while studying at RWU. Agonia is a former vice-president of the Public Relations Student Society of America chapter at RWU. She is originally from Central Falls, Rhode Island and has a strong passion for helping others and all forms of community work. Theresa is also a lover of traveling, pageantry, sports and can speak English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.

This beauty queen is not new to the world of pageants and Miss Rhode Island USA 2016 was not Agonia’s first pageant, she competed at Miss Rhode Island in 2013 where she was the fourth runner-up.
