Kelsey Swanson has been crowned as Miss Rhode Island USA 2017 on 11th September 2016 at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Providence. Kelsey succeeds Miss Rhode Island USA 2016 Theresa Agonia, and will now represent Rhode Island at the Miss USA 2017 pageant.

The contestants for the night were judged on the basis of swimsuit and evening gown round. At the same pageant, Asia Turner was titled as the first runner up, Lindsey Bucci was adjudged as the second runner up, Stephanie Santana was announced as the third runner up and Carissa DeSantis finished as the fourth runner up.
Alex Papigiotis was crowned as Miss Rhode Island Teen USA 2017 at the same pageant. Alex will now represent Rhode Island at Miss Teen USA 2017.
Rhode Island has consistently performed well at the Miss USA pageant over the years. The state has had with four semi-finalist placements and one first runner-up. Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo was the only Miss USA titleholder from Rhode Island.
