In exactly one week from now, Pinoy beauty Pia Wurtzbach will pass on her crown to the next Miss Universe. On 30th January 2017, one of the 86 gorgeous contestants of Miss Universe 2016 will be crowned as the winner. For Pia, it has been a long and beautiful journey, as she won the crown for Philippines after a long gap.
During one of her interviews on Saturday, Pia got nostalgic talking about her reign and tried to hold back her tears as she expressed her gratitude towards her manager, Esther Swan. Talking about Esther, Pia revealed that the former has always been supportive of her. Pia further added: "And it's true, and it's not just because it's her job. It's because she also cares about the welfare of the girls. She's taught me a lot of life lessons, you know?”
"It's so easy to watch a queen fall. That's what people want to see eh. Like alright, you made it, you won the crown. But isn't it more interesting especially for the media to see a girl lose her way? But to them it's not like that. They really empower the girls. And I'm glad that they care," Pia added.
Pia also talked about her plans to go back to New York once she passes down her title. Pia got emotional when the beauty queen read a message from the Head of MUO, Paula Shugart, in which the official said that she will miss Pia and that she will cry once her reign is over. Paula also said that Pia is a “hard act to follow”.

Reacting to the message, Pia said "That's the best compliment for me because that's exactly what I wanted to do during my reign. I didn't want to copy any former Miss Universe title-holders, I just wanted to be myself. And I wanted to be remembered as a different kind of a beauty queen."
"I'm going to miss them too and I'm so happy and so grateful — I'm just really thankful that they took care of me and I'm going to keep making them proud, make the organization proud because I feel like that's the best gift that I can give back to them," she added.
Boosted with the compliment from Shugart, Pia said that hearing such nice and positive comments from the MU team has made her forget all the criticisms she received throughout her reign. She said that throughout her reign, she had heard from haters that she should have done more of this and less of that. Bashers have always criticised her moves in many ways. But, Pia feels that all these beautiful words from her MUO team has made her forget all of that, and it’s just these positive views that matter to her now.
