The reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach who is in the tropical Cayman Islands met the reigning Miss Cayman Islands Monyque Brooks, and seems like the beauty queen is enjoying her stay to the fullest. Pia also celebrated the Independence Day in a one-day Pinoy Pride concert.
Pia Wurtzbach had the opportunity to meet the officials from both Cayman Island government and Philippine Committee. The beauty queen met the 2016 batch of contestants of Miss Cayman Islands who will be vying for the coveted title this year.
On June 27, Pia Wurtzbach attended the special event about HIV/AIDS awareness and also urged everyone to undergo HIV testing which will benefit not just one but everyone. “Take that first step. Take control, get tested, know your status. The risk is not knowing,” Wurtzbach said.
The reigning Miss Cayman Islands Monyque Brooks accompanied Pia on her visit to some of the tourist attractions in the island. The various activities that they did included a private session with the Governor of Cayman Islands, enjoying fishing in the Grand Cayman waters and also trying out local dishes of Cayman.
Monyque also shared that she and Pia share the similar passion for food and cooking. She also added that on Pia’s next visit, Monyque will teach Pia to cook conch stew recipe. The reigning Miss Cayman Islands also added a candid video of her and Pia walking to various touristy locations.
Recently, Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach went to the Apicha Community Health Center (Apicha CHC) in New York City and got tested for HIV. Six months after she promised to raise awareness on the HIV/AIDS epidemic and help shed the stigma of HIV testing, Pia is making sure she does everything to fulfil her duties to her best.
