Miss Universe 2016 pageant concluded on 30th January 2017, with the crowning of French beauty Iris Mittenaere as the winner. Her victory was a memorable one as it took France 64 years to win back the crown. Iris’ has started her reign with media tours and all the nation is talking about is the new queen and her duties. But, let’s flashback to the finale and remember the moment when Pia Wurtzbach passed on her crown to Iris.

We all saw Pia walk on the stage donning that beautiful blue gown, and gracing the stage as the Miss Universe for one last time. But, little did we know that the beauty queen had an emotional breakdown right before passing on her crown. Yes, did you know that? Unknown to many, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach had an emotional moment before passing her crown to Iris Mittenaere of France.

The moment was captured through the lenses of New York-based photographer Caryn Leigh Posnansky who posted the picture on her Instagram. “My favorite backstage Miss Universe moment, Pia getting choked up before passing on the crown,” Posnansky wrote on Instagram. The photo has garnered more than 5.5k likes since then.

Now this moment was oblivion to us, as right after the emotional moment Pia was on stage smiling and joking around with Steve. In fact, even when she passed on her crown to iris, she was as regal and as elegant with that beautiful smile. Now, this is one of those many reasons why we are going to miss Pia Wurtzbach as Miss Universe.
