The stunning crown was made by the Diamonds International Corporation (D.I.C.) with the theme of blending their Czech roots with the New York City skyline. The Miss Universe Organization which is based in New York, USA, had established a long relationship with D.I.C. since the debut of the crown. The pageant sponsor is now responsible for making the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA crowns for a decade.
D.I.C. is one of the most renowned companies to specialize in investment diamond and diamond jewellery across Asia, Russia, Europe, as well as the Middle East. One would also find diamond watches, pens, luxury perfumes, and accessories displayed at showrooms in cities across the world. Though it may have earned its name for creating astonishing pieces for many, the Miss Universe crown is one of its best creations.

After 3,000 hours of hard work and dedication, the present Miss Universe crown was made with an eye-catching royal design. The blue sapphires studded in the crown compliment the translucent look. It has one of the most unique designs, symbolising beauty, confidence, and strength. The crown is worth $300,000 and is intended to be given to the winner of the Miss Universe pageant held annually.
The stunning 411 grams crown first graced Miss Universe 2014, the stunning Paulina Vega of Colombia, and later enhanced Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of Philippines during the coronation gala last year. Interestingly, it has also been a part of one of the biggest controversies in the archives of Miss Universe pageant, when the crown was wrongly passed on to the 1st runner up at Miss Universe 2015.
If we talk about the elements that went in the compilation of such a marvellous piece, you would be surprised to know that though only five light blue topaz stones are pre-dominant in the look, the crown has 198 of the dark blue gemstone. Bohemian crystals, 33 in total are cut and polished to create the naturally colourless crown. The crystals are metalized at the back to enhance reflection and create the perfect translucent look. Other than the topaz stones and the dark blue sapphires, the crown is embellished with 311 diamonds. The base is made of a strip of 18 carat white gold which is 0.5 mm thick and 2 cm tall.
According to the makers of the crown, no element has been used in the making of this stunning piece, meaninglessly. The topaz stones symbolize loyalty as well as strength, and the dark blue sapphires symbolize wisdom as well as faith. The crown showcases the power of women from all over the world.
