The grand slam pageant of Miss Universe Malta 2016 concluded with the crowning of Martha Fenech as the Miss Universe Malta 2016 winner. Martha Fenech hailing from St. Julian's competed with 23 other finalists to make her way to the title. In addition to winning the crown and the opportunity to represent Malta at the Miss Universe pageant in January 2017 at Philippines, Martha Fenech will also enjoy a whole year of incredible activities and appearances on local television, magazines and newspapers. Martha Fenech will be the first representative of Malta to Miss Universe after 2001.

Martha believes that winning the title is an achievement for her as well as her supporters, who stood by her all the way to the finals. The coronation night of Miss Universe Malta 2016 was a grand event with various performances and events. It was held at Hilton Malta Conference Centre and was organised by Glow Promotions. The finalists walked the ramp in their respective swimsuits and evening gowns and set the stage on fire with their outstanding presentation. At the same event, Christine Mifsud hailing from Fgura was adjudged First Runner-up, and Dajana Laketic hailing from Swatar was adjudged the second runner-up.
Before announcing the names of the coveted winner and the runners up the host of the scintillating show came out with the names of the special award winners which are given below:

The Top 15 finalists then walked the ramp in their respective swimsuits, and based on the performance the juries altered down their list of Top 15 finalists into Top 10, who were:

Then came out the much awaited Top 5 finalists who were;

The Top 5 went through the of Question and Answer round, which decided the Top 3 finalists for the night - Christine Mifsud, Martha Fenech, Dajana Laketic. These three then went on to battle it out at the final round, the Common Q&A, which was of course engaging and interesting.
Malta competed at the Miss Universe pageant from the year 1968 to 2001. Rosalie Theuma was the last Maltese representative to compete at Miss Universe. On March 30’ 2016, the franchise of Miss Universe was taken away from the Miss Malta Organisation, and in April 2016 Alan J. Darmanin and Jeff Francalanza from Glow Promotions took the Miss Universe license to send Maltese representatives to the international pageant.
The crown wasn’t the only thing that went to the winner. She got more than just the crown. Of course, representing the country at an international platform comes handy. MU Malta Organisation added some amazing perks for the winners. This year saw the biggest prize package ever given in a beauty pageant in Malta.
