The latest one to add on the list is Miss Universe Myanmar 2016 Htet Htet Htun. Htet Htet Htun will be dressing up as a "marionette" through which she will represent a typical princess from Bagan dynasty. Marionette is a puppet worked by strings, and since the marionettes are controlled from above a stage, Htet Htet will be bearing a light fibre frame on her shoulders. The frame will portray the scenery background depicting Myanmar's landmarks.

The beauty will also perform a few moves as a marionette whilst presenting her costume during the Miss Universe pageant. Myanmar’s National Costume not just depicts an entertainment mode, in fact Myanmar Puppetry used to be a reputed art form performed in much esteem by all classes. It was used as a medium to spread awareness among people about the current events. Marionette was also used to educate people in literature, history and religion, and depicted a way of lifestyle.

It looks like the designers these days are moving out of the traditional national costume concepts and experimenting with new modernised ideas and trends. We love Myanmar’s concept of National Costume and this could definitely turn out to be one of the favourites for the pageant.
