Nikki Tay claims herself to not just be a beauty pageant enthusiast but also a book worm. Surprisingly, she loves keeping herself busy with mathematics. So this contestant is truly the embodiment of beauty with brains, indeed!
The 23 year old finalist has a record in getting A grades. She was one of the top students at Raffles Institution and also achieved four A’s. She is also proud of achieving nine A1s at the Singapore Chinese Girls' School.
Nikki, a trainee lawyer now, believes that one may not get what they dream of, but if they truly work hard to achieve something they will surely get to it, sooner or later. The young contestant of the MUS beauty contest have been working hard with the same views to achieve the goal of representing her country in the Miss Universe 2016 pageant which is scheduled to be held in Philippines in January 2017.
The mesmeric contestant wants to stand for the people suffering with mental disorders and create awareness about anxiety disorders, depression, and other disorders such as obsessive- compulsive. She wants to change the mindset of people who find the illness a personal weakness and wishes to help the victims of these disorders gather enough confidence to seek help and not continue to suffer in silence.
Nikki Tay finds inspirations from her idol, Aung San Suu Kyi, who was determined to work for what she believed in and showed great firmness and immense willpower by willing to sacrifice her freedom for her democratic believes.
For a nerd that she is, Nikki is often helpless when it comes to technology and often needs to seek help. Where technology stumps her, intelligent men do the trick to impress. She loves having meaningful conversations and share broad perspectives on social issues as well as in academics.
We hope Nikki realises her dream. Anyway, with her wonderful and inspiring views, she has already become a winner.
