Miss World 2016 jam packed schedule of events

Miss World 2016 pageant has officially kicked in and we couldn’t be more excited. Mireia Lalaguna of Spain will pass on her crown to one of the finalists on 18th December 2016. The beginning of the pageant has also marked the beginning of activities and events for the contestants.

As part of the Preliminary Activity, around 40 contestants will be taking a trip through Virginia on 5th December 2016. The journey is scheduled to start from Charlottesville and will then move on to Richmond. The contestants will explore points around the city in Richmond, including the Capitol, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.

The entire tour of the contestants will be filmed and shown during the finale as part of the televised Miss World competition. The schedule of the contestants for the day is as follows...

12:30 p.m. – Arrive at State Capitol (Greeted by representative from Richmond Region Tourism)

1 – 2 p.m. – Tour of Virginia Capital

2:00 p.m. – Depart for The Valentine

2:15 p.m. – Tour of The Valentine

3:15 p.m. – Depart for Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

3:30 p.m. – Tour of VMFA

4:30 p.m. – Depart for Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

4:45 p.m. – Tour of Lewis Ginter Holiday Light Show

6:00 p.m. – Depart for Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill

The contestants of Miss World 2016 recently met the children from the US Dream Academy. The contestants arrived at the Gaylord Convention Centre to meet 112 children from US Dream Academy, aged between 8-17 years. US Dream Academy is an afterschool program that works to provide opportunities for underprivileged children via mentorship, education and community building.

The girls also participated in the MetroCooking DC, Continental Cook-Off challenge wherein the contestants were divided into six teams by continent- The Americas, The Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Each team was asked to prepare a “Brunch” for a panel of celebrity judges.
