As updated already that the Miss World 2016 pageant will be held in the US in Washington DC, it will be the first time that the pageant will be held there. The Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor is where contestants from 140 countries will compete for a gilded crown, bringing in an estimated $20 million to the local economy.

The finale of Miss World 2016 is scheduled to be held on 18th December 2016, and as per the organizers the expected viewership will be around 2 billion. According to a spokesperson of the pageant, Veronica Jeon, “It is huge in China and around the world. The best analogy for this is that Miss World is like the World Cup: It’s popular everywhere else, but not yet in the U.S.”

The arrival of the contestants will start in late November and the contest will go on for about four weeks. They delegates are scheduled to begin their journey at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill before heading to the Gaylord National in mid-December for the final week of competitions. This is the first time the entire pageant will be held in the United States. A portion of the 1991 competition was moved to Atlanta after scheduled arrangements in the Dominican Republic fell through.
The Miss World is one of the oldest beauty pageants amongst the Big 4 (four) international beauty pageants. The Miss World beauty pageant started in the year 1951, the idea of Miss World beauty pageant was conceptualized by late Eric Morley, the first edition of the Miss World beauty pageant was held in United Kingdom. Miss World is one of the most publicized beauty pageants alongside Miss Universe and Miss Earth pageants.
