At the conclusion of the splendid finale of Miss World Guyana 2016, Nuriyyih Gerrard was crowned as the winner of Miss World Guyana 2016. Nuriyyih will now represent Guyana at the Miss World 2016 pageant. Nuriyyih succeeds Lisa Punch, the outgoing Miss World Guyana.

Nuriyyih is a Radio Jockey by profession in Guyana. She used to do programmes on all three stations of NCN, but, am, before Hits and Jams. Nuriyyih is a renowned personality in Guyana. She interned at the National AIDS Programme Secretariat, and as part of the communications strategy, she helped developed Shattered Hopes and Dreams, which was eventually made into a movie.

In 2011, Nuriyyih won the Best Actress for Ensnared by the National Drama Festival. “When you’re acting, you have to embody the character that you’re playing, so none of it is you on stage”, said Nuriyyih expressing her interest in acting.

At the same event, Treasure James was adjudged the first runner-up and Najuma Nelson was adjudged second runner-up. In addition to announcing the winner and the runners-up, a series of Special Awards and titles were also awarded to the contestants under the following category -
