Puteri Indonesia 2016 is on its road to the finale and will be the 20th edition of the pageant. The reigning Puteri Indonesia, Anindya Kusuma Putri will crown her successor at the conclusion of the event. There will be a total of 39 contestants who will represent the 34 provinces of Indonesia.

 The winner will represent Indonesia at the Miss Universe 2016, while the runner-ups will compete at the Miss International 2016 and Miss Supranational 2016. The pre-pageant activities of Puteri Indonesia finally kicks off today and the finale of pageant will take place in the end of February 2016. The pre-pageant activities will now see the contestants competing against each other in their swimsuits, evening gown, photoshoots, rampwalk and national costumes.

Puteri Indonesia (meaning “Princess of Indonesia”), also known as Miss Universe Indonesia, is the beauty pageant in Indonesia, that selects and sends the winner for the Miss Universe international pageant. The Puteri Indonesia pageant was established in 1992 and is considered the oldest pageant in Indonesia. The 20th edition of Puteri Indonesia pageant, will witness the battle amongst 39 contestants. Indonesia has a good record in pageantry in recent years, and has placed at Miss Universe for three consecutive years, and has produced a runner up and Top 10 finalist at Miss Supranational and Miss International respectively.

This year, Khairunnisa, Arisja Putri P., Intan Aletrino, Kurnia Illahi, Agita Maryalda Z., Maulia Lestari, Ratih Anggraini, Dessi Tri Widiarti, Felicia Bsc. H, Claudya Dara C, Mutia Ardim, Niken Ayu S Ikom,  along with other few crown contenders are top favorite for the Puteri Indoensia 2016 title.
