Miss Universe 2016 pageant expected to have improved viewership

The 2015 edition of Miss Universe failed to generate much viewership due to all the Donald Trump dramatic controversy, who btw won the Presidential Election of the US. Despite of the crowning fiasco by the host Steve Harvey, the pageant failed to reach the expected viewership. The pageant attracted only 6.2 million total viewers in the US compared to the previous year's 7.7 million viewers.

The reason why this year is expected to hit the radar is the fact that it is going to be held in the Philippines. The Filipinos are the biggest fans of beauty pageants and when it’s Miss Universe, you expect the madness to get doubled, because well hello the reigning queen is Pia Wurtzbach from Philippines. Secondly, the “odd timings” of the pageant has been infused keeping in mind the time zone of the American countries. Hence, the US viewership is expected to rise. Also, there are good numbers of Filipino population based in the US.

What can also be noted is the fact that the Miss Universe 2016 pageant will explore different parts of the Philippines. The Preliminary events are expected to be scattered among different locations. Ever since the official announcement, the pageant has been keeping the surprise element actively coming in, for example the secret US based performer with Filipino roots. Another factor can be the fact that Steve Harvey is going to host the pageant this year as well. So, either we can expect another year of crowning blunder, or if not that we can definitely see some fun and jokes aiming at his debacle from last year.

One thing is for sure, i.e. we are going to enjoy this edition too the core, not because of any other reason, but because it is the Miss Universe pageant, and we kind of have this feeling that controversies are lined up for this edition as well.
