Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 also referred to as The Next Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 was held on 23rd February in 2017. At the conclusion of the finale of The Next Miss Universe Malaysia 2017, Samantha Katie was crowned as the winner. Samantha will now represent Malaysia at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant. Samantha succeeds Miss Universe Malaysia 2016 Kiran Jassal. At the same pageant, Dana Low was adjudged first runner-up, Ollemadthee Kunasagaran was titled second runner-up and Laura Simon finished as third runner-up.
Seventeen finalists from all over Malaysia were selected to compete for the coveted title. The finalists were revealed by Elaine Daly, the National Director of Miss Universe Malaysia Organization on 13 October, 2016, at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.

Samantha Katie is a 22 year old mixed Chinese and Brazilian beauty who hails from Kuala Lumpur. The model and artist was brought up in Klang. Despite her mixed cultural backgrounds, she considers herself to be a true Malaysian at heart. One of the most interesting hobbies that she has is a love for different languages. Samantha loves to learn new languages and has already obtained proficiency in four of them, besides Portuguese.
