Shannon Lynch was crowned Miss District of Columbia Earth 2020 and is representing the state of District of Columbia for the title of Miss Earth Unites States 2020. She was born in Washington, DC but grew up in the Pacific Northwest because her parents were stationed there while serving in the US Army. She has attended Georgetown University where she graduated with honors and holds a master's degree from American University. She plans to combine the activism she has been doing for many years with the mission of the Miss Earth USA organization. She has already established a partnership with a local grocery store chain in DC to hand out reusable grocery bags to their customers while also giving them a chance to register to vote. She also plans to publish educational materials on how young women can be eco-conscious voters.
