Katarina Sonja Rodriguez is a Filipino-American beauty who with her past record of victories earned the right to represent her country Philippines in Miss World 2018 that held on 8 December 2018 at the Sanya City Arena in Sanya, China, where 118 delegates from various countries participated but unfortunately Katarina could not procure her position in the finale. Despite the results, the Filipino followers of the beauty were quite unhappy as the popular opinion was that she should have at least placed in the Top 5.

Katarina is born in Orlando and attended her high school there only. She studied a double major in Business Management and Philosophy from De La Salle University in Manila. She is also a cycling instructor, a competitive long-distance runner, and joined as a member of De La Salle University Women's Track and Field Team. Katarina’s modelling career commenced when she first appeared for the audition for the second season of Asia's Next Top Model and there she was selected as part of the show's final three contestants. She could not win but ultimately got many other opportunities. Prior to Miss World 2018, she was a titleholder of Miss Intercontinental Philippines 2017 and Miss World Philippines 2018. Apart from this, she was placed 2ndrunner-up in Asia’s Next Top Model 2014 and 1st runner-up in Miss Intercontinental 2017. Declaration Miss World 2018 was disheartening for the Philippines as she was unfortunately unplaced, but she definitely has a long way ahead for success.
