Miss World organization, through their official social media, announced the Top 10 finalists for the Beauty with a Purpose at the gala dinner held on 3rd March 2024 in Mumbai, India. One of these delegates will win the Best BWAP project at the finale. Let’s take a look at all the Top 10 finalists projects for the 71st Miss World.
Sofia Shamia of Ukraine won a spot in the Top 10 in Beauty with a Purpose Challenge with her astounding work she has done for people in Ukraine who have suffered in the war. To help the people of her country, Sofia organized a celebration for children at the National Children’s Specialized Hospital, creating an unforgettable day with costumes of favourite characters, animators, and games.
As an artist, she conducted an art therapy course for children to help heal their emotional wounds. Sofia has also organized a charity auction, and the funds from selling the painting ‘Lost Childhood’ supported an educational and rehabilitation centre for children in Lviv. Selling another painting, the funds were donated to the organisation Frontline Medics for Ukrainian hospital workers.
On winning the Top 10 spot, Sofia took to her official social media as she expressed her emotions in a post, “I want to share with you some photos from behind the scenes of yesterday's Beauty of the Purpose Gala Dinner live, where the TOP 10 charity projects (Beauty of the Purpose Projects) from 117 countries were announced!! And I’m happy to tell you we’ve made it to the top! The emotions I had as soon as I found out, and I found out minutes before I left!”
“During my speech, I saw my video presentation, and the memories popped up. Memories of our children, defenders, doctors, families and about terrible events in our country. I couldn't help but feel all the pain we've all been holding inside for so long. The first shot, this photo is right after our speeches, I still felt such pain that I couldn't smile. But along with this, I felt proud!!!! Pride for us and our country!! We deserve the best”, she added.
The 71st Miss World will be crowned on 9th March 2024 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India where Miss World 2021 Karolina Bielawska of Poland will crown her successor at the end of the event finale. The event will be live-streamed by Sonyliv India, starting at 7:30 PM local time.
