Brenda Azaria Jiménez is the appointed face of Puerto Rico in Miss Grand International 2017. The young 22-year-old lady was also the first runner-up of Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016 and represented Puerto Rico in Miss Universe 2016, after a controversial dethronement of crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016, Kristhielee Caride.

This Puerto Rican model hails from Aguadilla, stands tall at a towering height of 180 cm, weighs 56 kgs and has impressive body measurements of 32-23-36. She is a student of Biology and Psychology and aspires to become a Neonatal Paediatrician. She likes horse riding, travelling and water sports in her free time. Brenda was raised in Aguadilla Puerto Rico where she played on numerous basketball teams at a local and national level.

Before leaving for Vietnam, where the ongoing international contest is taking place, the proud Puerto Rican shared a lovely message saying,

“Today, my journey begins – one where I will represent my country, Puerto Rico, in Miss Grand International 2017. Now, more than ever, my heart and efforts are entirely devoted to all of my fellow Puerto Ricans. As an ambassador of goodwill and as a spokeswoman for humanitarian causes, I plea for help for the thousands of families who lost their homes and who do not have access to essential services after the devastation left behind by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. To my Puerto Rican brothers and sisters who live abroad, now is the time to gather more strength and use it to help our community; I urge you to make an impact in the lives of those who are still suffering deeply.”

In a telephonic interview with El Vocero (Puerto Rican newspaper) after reaching Vietnam, she said, "I was helping in Aguadilla to clean up roads picking up trees. Knowing that I had to leave, leaving my family and my boyfriend, Fernando Alvarez (Mr. International 2015 and Mr. World 2016) without electricity, water, gasoline or communication, gave me much sadness.”

"Miss Grand is a responsibility that I acquired and, furthermore, I feel it is an opportunity to be able to give Puerto Rico a little hope, that we need it so much. No matter how lacerated the island is, we will continue to go forward and that is one of my goals here, to prove that we are great no matter the circumstances." she added.

The pain she felt in leaving Puerto Rico at this stage, having in her mind the devastation and suffering of the Puerto Rican people as a result of Hurricane Maria, is still latent in beauty. Nevertheless, she has gone to conquer the crown to offer that joy to the Country and to be able to help her people back home.

She expressed her confidence in winning the crown by saying, "I do not know the ways that God has for me, but I will go for that crown and no one can snatch it from me."

Brenda has the face, height, figure, attitude, confidence, will, and above all she has the prayers and love of the people of her country behind her.

She surely looks like a choice of many. Is she yours?
