In a first by any beauty pageant around the world, Miss Earth Philippines organization will be creating history as Miss Earth Philippines 2020 delegates will be wearing face masks during the preliminary competition as a precaution against the spread of coronavirus, a global pandemic which was resulted in global lockdown and social distancing.

This will be the first time that any pageant will see candidates being presented wearing masks at the official presentation as well. Lorraine Schuck, Executive Vice President of Carousel Productions, announced that the environment-driven beauty pageant will be presented in virtual reality tentatively on 24th May 2020 as Janelle Lazo Tee Miss Earth Philippines 2019 will crown her successor.

There are no words yet if the candidates will wear face masks during the coronation night as well. However the prejudging of figure and form can be seen live on Facebook. The final dates for the preliminary competition and coronation of Miss Philippines Earth 2020 will be announced soon.

This is not the first time that Miss Earth Philippines has taken such a unique decision as in 2017, the candidates made their appearance wearing black veils during the pre-judging portion of ‘Figure and Form’ category. The organizers explained that the black veil aims to put emphasis on the figure and form of the candidate, which was the criteria of focus for that specific portion; and second, to introduce the girls with dramatic flair since it as the first in the series of prejudging.

Well, it will sure be interesting to see how the first virtual crowning happens and if the other pageant will closely follow suit of Miss Earth Philippines due to the dire circumstances everyone is currently in. Janelle Tee Miss Earth Philippines 2019 placed in the Top 20 at Miss Earth 2019 with her incredible performance last year.
