Ahlam Ismail to represent Uganda at Miss Earth 2021

01 Oct 2021 | Priya Bhardwaj

Miss Earth Uganda organization, a day ago, announced that, due to the current health situation in Uganda it was hard to put up an event that's in need of manpower and decided to nominate the 6th Earth Queen from Uganda to represent the country at Miss Earth 2021.

Ahlam Ismail aka Lamu is a Ugandan Afro-pop musician based in Kampala. She sings in Swahili, English and Luganda. In 2018, she was picked by Nigerian artist and label executive Mr Eazi as one of the 100 up-and-coming artists from across Africa to represent Uganda in his Empawa Africa programme. The following year, she released her debut single ‘Something About You’ which made her very famous. In June 2021, she released her debut EP ‘No Pressure’.

Aside from music, she is a youth coordinator who continuously partners with various organisations. She will definitely be a strong competitor for the international crown if she shows the same dedication and sincerity in preparation for the crown. Ahlam describes herself as ‘dreamer and creator of great things’.

Ahlam succeeds Miss Earth Uganda 2020 Priscillah Mbabazi who represented her country at Miss Earth 2020. Unfortunately, she failed to place in the Top 20. The country is yet to pioneer its win at Miss Earth. If Ismail wins the Miss Earth crown, she will bring home the first Miss Earth crown.
