Nguyen Thúc Thuy Tiên of Vietnam crowned Miss Grand International 2021

Miss Grand International 2021, the 9th edition of the international pageant, was held tonight at the SHOW DC Hall in Bangkok where Vietnamese beauty Nguyen Thúc Thuy Tien created history by becoming the first diva from her country to win the coveted Miss Grand International 2021 crown. She succeeds and was crowned by Miss Grand International 2020 Abena Appiah of USA.

Nguyen Thúc Thuy Tiên was a sight to behold at the finale as she gave an outstanding performance exuding confidence through her speeches as well as her walk on stage. The 23-year-old beauty was a part of our favourites for the crown as well. Tien is not new to the pageant world as she represented Vietnam at Miss International 2018 and was highly praised for her performance throughout the competition; however, she was not placed. Fortunately, her experience there worked in her favour this time as she made a historic win for Vietnam.

The newly crowned Miss Grand International 2021 Nguyen Thúc Thuy Tiên’s court included –

1st Runner-up – Andrea Victoria Aguilera from Ecuador

2nd Runner-up – Lorena Gonçalves Rodrigues from Brazil

3rd Runner-up – Vivianie Diaz Arroyo from Puerto Rico

4th Runner-up –  Jeanè Van Dam from South Africa

From the sixty delegates who began their journey, the delegates who made it to Top 20 included Marcia Marilia Menezes from Angola, Angolina Loves from Australia, Lorena Gonçalves Rodrigues from Brazil, Mariana Jaramillo from Colombia, Adriana Moya Alvarado from Costa Rica, Stephanie, Medina from Dominican Republic, Andrea Victoria Aguilera from Ecuador, Elodie Sirulnick from France, Luisa Victoria Malz from Germany, Manika Sheokand from India, Sophie Louise Rogan from Indonesia, Lishalliny Kanaran from Malaysia, Amara shune lei from Myanmar, Nathalie Yasmin, Mogbelzada from Netherlands, Patience Chenema Christopher from Nigeria, Vivianie Diaz Arroyo from Puerto Rico, Jeanè Van Dam from South Africa, Alba Dunkerbeck Morales from Spain, Vanessa Carolina Coello Coraspe from Venezuela and Nguyen Thúc Thuy Tiên from Vietnam.

After the announcement, these beauties strutted in their bikinis for the swimsuit round as Cambodia directly won a spot in Top 10 through Public Voting. The rest of the Top 10 was announced, thereafter, which included Lorena Gonçalves Rodrigues from Brazil, Adriana Moya Alvarado from Costa Rica, Andrea Victoria Aguilera from Ecuador, Sophie Louise Rogan from Indonesia, Vivianie Diaz Arroyo from Puerto Rico, Jeanè Van Dam from South Africa, Alba Dunkerbeck Morales from Spain, Vanessa Carolina Coello Coraspe from Venezuela, Nguyen Thúc Thuy Tiên from Vietnam. Keeping the theme of the pageant in mind, the Top 10 beauties gave their speeches on their view on ‘Preventing War and Violence’.

The outgoing queen Abena Appiah took her final walk on stage as she bid adieu to a successful reign. The organization also announced the venue of the 10th anniversary edition of Miss Grand International which will be held in Indonesia next year. Thereafter, the Top 5 were announced from which the winner and her court was chosen.

A number of special awards were also presented at the finale – Best in National Costume award was shared by Lishalliny Kanaran from Malaysia, Samantha Elizabeth Batallanos Cortegana from Peru, Marcia Marilia Menezes from Angola. Best in Swimsuit went to Vivianie Diaz Arroyo from Puerto Rico while Miss Popular Vote was won by Pokimtheng Sothida from Cambodia.

The accomplished panel of jury comprised of all former Miss Grand International queens namely Miss Grand International 2013 Janelee Chaparro (Puerto Rico), Miss Grand International 2014 Lees Garcia (Cuba), Miss Grand International 2016 Ariska Putri Pertiwi (Indonesia), Miss Grand International 2017 Maria Jose Lora (Peru) and Miss Grand International 2018 Clara Sosa (Paraguay).
