The Miss Grand United Kingdom organization recently announced that the newly crowned Miss Grand England, Miss Grand Wales and Miss Grand Scotland queens will not be joining the Miss Grand International 2021 pageant, scheduled to take place in December in Thailand.

The organization wrote, “Due to the current circumstances surrounding covid, quarantine and vaccinations, each of the three delegates had their own individual hurdles preventing them reaching the MGI final and we therefore made the difficult decision as a group that they would not attend this year’s final. They will continue their reign in the U.K. and support their sister Queen Shannon who is representing Northern Ireland. In the mean time we ask for you all to get behind our representative Shannon our Miss Grand Northern Ireland 2021.”

I am absolutely devastated after months of preparation and this is a decision not taken lightly, I have prepared gowns, national costume and my wardrobe ahead of the finals which I was incredibly excited to share with you all. I thank you for your continued support on my pageant journey, you have not seen the last of me yet… watch this space.”

On the other hand, Miss Grand Wales 2021 Heather Hopkins wrote, “So the news has now been announced that I along with some of the other Miss Grand United Kingdom winners will not be travelling to Thailand for the Miss Grand International pageant this month. Due to the current circumstances, it was logistically not possible for me to attend the final. This has been the case for several weeks now and it’s safe to say we have explored every option to enable me to be there but ultimately it wasn’t possible.”

“I want to wish a huge good luck to Shannon McCulla who will be representing Northern Ireland and we will be eagerly awaiting updates from her time there. Myself, Jessica and Katie will still continue our year here in the U.K. Thank you for all the messages of support since winning the Miss Grand Wales title and since the announcement,” she added.
