Jen Atkin who was crowned the75th Miss Great Britain 2020 on 23rd February 2020 comes out as a proud member of the LGBTQ community revealing that she is bisexual. She is the first winner of the title to come out.

Jen is 26-years-old and is an aviation administrator from Cleethorpes who is using the platform given to her to fight the misconceptions related to healthy bodies. Now, after her coming out as bisexual she hopes that her bold step can encourage others. She said: “Even if it helps one person to open up to family or friends, it’d be such a good thing.”

The diva shared that she was obsessed with the divas who use to wrestle and fancied a few of her brother’s friends too and assumed that she was a lesbian after she dated a female neighbour when she was 14-years-old until she got engaged to a man at the age of 22 before the two split up.

Jen then met her first serious girlfriend at a Manchester gay bar. She said: “I thought, ‘I need to tell my parents. I need to tell my friends because I’ve met someone I like and it’s a woman and they might not understand’. I rang my mum. She was totally fine about it.”

The diva rose to fame when she was crowned Miss Great Britain 2020 and shared that she entered the beauty pageant after taking three years of break from pageantry and getting dumped by her fiancé for being obese and her looks. The diva was devasted as the two were about to get married the following years but she took the devastation and turned it into motivation to work on herself. She lost eight stone by swapping takeaways for healthy eating and has been keen to promote a healthy lifestyle after her remarkable weight loss, which came over two years and included regular visits to the gym.

After winning, Jen stressed the fact that hard work pays off, and mentioned “although my body has changed so much, I think don’t think my personality has, and I think that’s helped me. The judges were able to see what kind of person I am.”

Miss Great Britain 2020 Jen Atkin’s reign extended due to the pandemic situation in the country explained that she gets infuriated at people who have a very different idea when it comes to being bisexual. She explains that she just has more options when it comes to relationships compared to straight people.
