Miss World Puerto Rico 2017 (Miss Mundo Puerto Rico 2017) finale, which was scheduled to be held last night, has been cancelled due to the unfortunate arrival of devastating Hurricane Maria. Miss World Puerto Rico 2016 and Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle was expected to grace the finale and crown her successor who would then compete in Miss World 2017.

Miss Mundo Puerto Rico 2017 Cancelled Hurricane Maria Devastating Impact

With this unfortunate event, we can't say whether the pageant will happen soon or Puerto Rico may end up appointing a representative for Miss World 2017 or skip the participation this year. Some special award winners were announced before the finale, and the finale has now been postponed to a later date.

Hurricane Maria cut a path through the island on Wednesday causing devastating floods and the entire island also remained without power. It has caused a severe blow to the energy grid of Puerto Rico that it may take months for power to be restored for everyone, as per the officials. The storm, which upgraded to a Category 3 hurricane early Thursday, has ravaged the Caribbean over the past few days, wreaking devastation on Dominica and the Virgin Islands before slamming into Puerto Rico.

Our heart goes out to the residents of Puerto Rico, and we hope that the island nation and its residents are able to restore their normal lives soon.
