The Miss South Africa organization has recently appointed Lalela Mswane as Miss Supranational South Africa 2022 as she will be representing the country at the 13th Miss Supranational pageant. “We are excited to announce Miss South Africa 2021, Lalela Mswane will represent Mzansi at the 13th edition of Miss Supranational 2022 this July in Poland,” the organization announced.

“We are super excited about this year’s edition of Miss Supranational and that Lalela will represent us at this prestigious event. We once again call on all South Africans to show their support and we believe she will make us all proud,” said Stephanie Weil, CEO, Miss South Africa.

Lalela Mswane was crowned Miss South Africa last October in Cape Town. She went on to participate at the 70th Miss Universe pageant held in December 2021 where she emerged as the second runner-up. The 24-year-old professional model, ballerina and LLB graduate who hails from Kwa-Sokhulu in Richards Bay hopes to once again bring pride to the country and continent at Miss Supranational.

Lalela fought valiantly for the title and was eventually crowned South Africa's reigning beauty queen. Her path to success was strewn with setbacks, as she bravely decided to compete in the Miss Universe competition immediately after being crowned, despite all the controversy surrounding her reign. Mswane received widespread criticism within South Africa for agreeing to compete in Miss Universe 2021, which was set to be held in Israel, due to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

Prior to becoming Miss South Africa, Mswane worked as a professional model signed to the South African modeling agency Alushi Models. After completing her secondary education at Pro Arte Alphen Park in 2015, Mswane enrolled in the University of Pretoria, later graduating with a Bachelor of Laws degree.

After a successful finish as the second runner-up at the Miss Universe 2021 pageant, the diva will now prepare for her international stint and will definitely be a strong contender for the title. Miss Supranational 2022, the 13th edition of the Miss Supranational pageant, is set to be held in Poland later this year, where Namibian queen Chanique Rabe will crown her successor at the end of the event.
