Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst serves as the first diversity advisor at a North Carolina based law firm

Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst has been announced as the first diversity advisor at North Carolina based law firm; ‘Poyner Spruill’ that was started in 1800s. The diva feels honoured and lucky to return to the law firm where she served as a member of the litigation team previously. When asked, she stated, “I am looking forward to amplifying the voices of the underrepresented in this new role” It is an honour that Poyner Spruill trusts me to make an impact.”

The diva took to her social media account to share the news while statin, “New year, new opportunities to make a difference! I’m THRILLED to be able to continue my work as an entertainment news correspondent with ExtraTV while serving as my law firm’s first Diversity Advisor. Cheers to more personal and professional growth this year!”

 

 

Explaining further about her role in the firm, Cheslie mentioned, “This role will allow me to provide guidance on diversity and inclusion, using my previous experience serving as a member of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, my studies earning an undergraduate degree with a focus in human resources and my Master of Business Administration degree, and my various experiences speaking nationwide about diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

The diva who represented USA at Miss Universe 2019 did not take time off her work and passion as she continued to advocate for the change in the society. She used the platform given to her as an addition to her reach and spoke about and creating awareness against the injustice, noting her passion for criminal justice reform, she has worked pro bono for clients serving excessive time for low-level drug offenses. In her onstage questions during the 2019 Miss USA Competition, Kryst spoke in support of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements and described the Millennial generation as “innovative” before going on to win the title.

Dan Cahil, managing partner of the law firm is equally excited to have Cheslie in the firm, he mentioned, “We are excited to have Cheslie serve the firm in this new role and to remain part of the Poyner team. Her passion, world experiences, and knowledge will offer great insight and direction. Cheslie was the first attorney to win Miss USA title and was the longest reigning Miss USA in the history of Miss USA; along with being a part of ‘trifecta’ of black queens who won the crown of America’s three most well-respected and recognized beauty pageants; Miss America, Miss USA, and, Miss Teen USA.

The diva has been working as full-time correspondent at “Extra” where she covers the latest celebrity and entertainment news since October 2019. She is active in her role as a Global Impact Ambassador for Dress for Success and serves on the National Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters America.
