Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters arrived in South Africa on Wednesday, January 24, as her flight landed at the O.R Tambo airport. She was received by a frenzy of media and excited fans. This is the first time she has returned home since winning the crown last November.

Demi-Leigh had been sharing nostalgic posts about her home country for the longest time now and had shared a post announcing her official date of arrival. The beauty queen has brought the title of Miss Universe back home after a waiting period of about 39 years.

The official Facebook page of Miss South Africa also shared photos from the event.

Being crowned Miss Universe comes with a lot of responsibility, and even more travelling. It requires for the reigning queen to always be on the move, and have her to-go bag ready for every humanitarian or publicity tour thrown her way. The journey of Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, has not been any different as well. In her short reign, up till now, she has covered more surface area on Earth to fulfil her duties, than most of us do in our entire lives.

She clearly looked ecstatic coming back to the place that she started her journey from.

For those of her fans, that missed the opportunity to see the reigning queen at the airport, and event was organized t Cell C Connect Center the same afternoon from 4 pm.
